This has to be some of the saddest (and scariest to me..) news I've seen about bullying in a long while.... Two young teens take their lives as part of a pact because they were being bullied in school. One girl was taunted because of her weight, the other teased for the color of her red hair!
My 8 year old daughter is a smiling happy child, she's feisty, she's gregarious, her laugh isn't just a laugh - it's a full blown guffaw. Her smile lights my world up, her intelligence boggles, my mind, and her sadness can make my heart weep in an instant. If I EVER thought that she was being teased or hurt simply because she has auburn red curly hair, I think that I'd lose my mind.
While my children do not struggle with their weight, it is something that I have struggled with in one way or another since I was in my teens. So; for the other girl who fought those demons, I can truly identify with how she must have felt.
I have to ask again WHY, WHY, WHY is it so difficult for parents, teachers, peers, adults of positive influence could not see these girls in so much pain. My heart and prayers go out to these children's parents and loved ones.
